macOS Upgrade Nag Letters

High Sierra gentle reminder

Dear Orchard User

Thank you for using the Orchard service. I wanted to gently remind you that you can now upgrade your Mac to macOS 10.13 High Sierra, in four easy steps. Please see https://docs.orchard.ox.ac.uk/HighSierraUpgrade

I gave some thought as to why you may not have upgraded already and I hope the following encourages you :)

Numerous apps have been updated in macOS 10.13 High Sierra:
- Safari is faster, limits how much websites can track you online, offers an improved Reader mode and stops videos auto-playing.
- Mail has a new split screen view and uses less storage.
- Photos has professional-level editing tools.
- Notes, Siri and Spotlight have all been extended.

Security is enhanced with new safeguards restricting malware from making low-level changes to the OS, plus multiple other security improvements.

SSD disks will use Apple's new file system APFS, making actions like opening and copying files faster and more reliable.

4K and HVEC video is supported for smoother streaming and smaller files.

You shouldn't be worried that your Mac won't support High Sierra or won't run it well. The reports we've seen indicate that if your Mac runs macOS 10.12 Sierra, it should perform the same or better on macOS 10.13 High Sierra.

We would appreciate if you can find an hour to let the upgrade run and then take advantage of these new features.

One more thing... if you're an Apple fan, you'll know that macOS 10.14 Mojave is now available. We're working hard to fix the various issues that Mojave presents to the enterprise so we can support this new macOS on Orchard.

Kind regards,
Chris
