The licence for VMware Fusion 8 is controlled by setting a version of 8.x in the JSS and adding a licence key, which must be purchased for the computer.
We have forked the VMware Fusion recipes as the author no longer wished to maintain them but wouldn't let us take over maintaining them either. These are in the private repo at https://github.com/ox-it/orchard-recipes-private/VMware_Fusion with the prefix "Ox", and packaged our deploy.ini. We override these locally to provide versions 7.x and 8.x, and to insert the munki postinstall script from https://svn.oucs.ox.ac.uk/groups/nsms/src/n/nsms-mmp-scripts/trunk/VMwareFusion4SetupAndSerial.sh that serialises the install from the JSS.
